About
Seeing What Systems Would Rather Hide
Climate justice architect bridging the worlds of policy, technology, and community power. A voice for the communities that power demands we overlook.
I'm Dr. Brandy "Bea" Brown — a writer, futurist, and systems thinker who loves solving impossible-looking problems at the intersection of climate, technology, policy, spirit, and community.
I'm a Black woman who grew up on Midwestern pragmatism and now spends her days reading the grid like scripture, listening for what our infrastructure is saying about our values. I don't do hot takes or performative outrage. I do depth. I do pattern-spotting. I do the kind of slow, precise seeing that makes it hard to unsee how power actually moves — and what it costs real people, land, and water when we pretend our systems are "neutral."
My career has taken me from the halls of Michigan's Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy — where I served as the state's first Climate & Energy Advisor — to building clean energy innovation at Walker-Miller Energy Services, to founding Sadberry Singer, a consultancy focused on climate, clean energy access, and community resilience.
Today, I lead research on how AI data centers impact the health, economics, and environment of Black and underserved communities. I write BeaYond Now, a newsletter for people who feel a different kind of future arriving but don't always have language for what they're sensing. And I speak to audiences who are ready for something deeper than talking points.
"I believe our grids, data centers, policies, neighborhoods, and rituals are all part of the same story: what we worship, what we're willing to sacrifice, and what we secretly believe about who deserves to thrive."— From BeaYond Now

What I Believe
Depth Over Speed
The slow, precise seeing that reveals how power actually moves. No hot takes — just frameworks that make it hard to unsee the truth.
Compassion as Strategy
Treating everyone with love and respect while still speaking truth to power. The convergence of professional rigor, humanity, and community care.
Spirit Meets Systems
Our grids, data centers, and policies are spiritual questions in disguise. Staying awake in places that would rather we go numb.
Let's Work Together
Available for speaking engagements, advisory work, and partnerships that center equity in climate and technology decisions.
